Faster than an ambulance
A bike, a flat tire and an unlucky fall near Vyšší Brod. What happens when you call SOS transport? Read how it went – and why Ewa Farna's songs filled the ride.
A trip from Vyšší Brod towards Pasečná was supposed to be an ordinary summer adventure. But one unlucky moment was enough, and a fourteen-year-old cyclist could not continue.
The phone rang around half past seven in the evening. Our SOS transport team had long since finished for the day, but in a moment like that nobody watches the clock. We got in the car and set off.
It was clear on arrival that she needed medical treatment. Waiting for an ambulance would have taken a while, so, by agreement, we drove her straight to the hospital in Český Krumlov. Music replaced the nervousness on the way. It turned out that our young passenger loves Ewa Farna. So we sang. Quietly for a while, loudly for a while, and at times in a way that even Ewa herself might have turned her head.
In the end it all turned out great. She was treated, her parents were relieved, and we were glad we could help. Because that is exactly what SOS transport is for – so it doesn't leave you in trouble somewhere in the middle of the route.
