Road Classics from Lipno

This route is a must for every classic rider! Experiencing roads almost without cars and riding along narrow lanes of the border zone is simply a dream. And when we show you where to stop for a good coffee or a Coke with ice and lemon, you’ll fall in love with cycling in the Lipno region.

Before you set off from Lipno, stop by Shots and Sparks or Bistro Molo for a filter coffee or a proper espresso – you’ll need the energy. We ride to Přední Výtoň at an easy pace along the cycle path (if you’re in a bigger group, feel free to take the road), and from Frýdava the real time trial begins. The rolling road with perfect asphalt is so much fun that your average speed will quickly go up.

Make sure to turn at the crossroads by the bridge, otherwise you’ll miss the technical highlight of this route – the Schwarzenberg Canal. From there, you’ll cruise along a romantic road right by the Austrian border all the way to Pasečná. If you need to recharge, this is the perfect place, because the toughest climb of the route is still ahead.

From Pasečná to Spáleniště it’s a speed paradise with beautiful curves – just be careful, because even though traffic here is minimal, you might still meet a car. From Spáleniště to the abandoned village of Kapličky, you’ll work up quite a sweat, but then it’s all downhill to Vyšší Brod and along the new cycle path by the Vltava River back to the reservoir.

End this route with a cold Pilsner at Stodola restaurant or dinner at Blue, part of Hotel Amenity.
