VIF around the Lipno dam 2026

Lipno nad Vltavou

This route has become a real phenomenon lately. Just as every Czech has to climb Sněžka, the country's highest peak, at least once, everyone should ride around Lipno Lake by bike. And we've finally put it together in a form that's worth it.

route description

VIF around the Lipno dam 2026
From Lipno you'll set off along the lake through Výtoň and Frýdava, an easy warm-up with views of the water that quietly gets you ready for what's coming. From Frýdava the climb up to Nová Pec begins. It's no walk in the park, but at the top you're rewarded with views that keep people coming back again and again. Instead of the old broken road near Přední Zvonková, we've moved the route over to Austria, and trust us, you'll love that decision. Peace and quiet, smooth tarmac and a bit of that greener grass on the other side of the border.
You'll return to the Czech side via Horní Planá, ride through Černá v Pošumaví and finish in Frymburk, where the cycle path takes you comfortably back to Lipno. And who wouldn't want to brag to their friends about riding more than 80 km? The route is ideal for a road bike, and a gravel bike will give you even more peace of mind. The route partner is VIF sports, who have sunglasses for every occasion, and with views like these you'll definitely need them.
