Can an e-bike be a way to bring people to cycling who lack the fitness or the age for a classic bike? As part of KolemKolem Fest 2026, together with CzechCrunch we welcomed the legend of Czech freeride, biker and adventurer Richard Gasperotti, ambassador of Bosch eBike Systems.
Richard Gasperotti, known as Gaspi to his friends, is a legend of Czech freeride, has ridden for the Mondraker brand for fourteen years and takes e-bikes as seriously as off-road descents. When he was first offered the chance to try an e-bike, he reportedly reacted with the words “Dude, I'm surely not at the point where I'd ride e-bikes yet.” Today he answers similar doubts differently: “When I'm old, I won't have the strength for sporty e-cycling, because it's really hard work.”
What people most often underestimate on an e-bike
Anyone who gets an e-bike with a Bosch drive should above all download the eBike Flow app and pair the bike with it – without that, the motor runs at only half power. But the most common mistake is made by seniors: “They pick the strongest assistance level and ride in the hardest gear. The motor then has to spin a lot and has no power. And they also quite underestimate the weight of the bike.”
Tip from Gaspi: before you head out on a new e-bike for the first time, pair it with the app of the drive unit manufacturer. You'll get the motor's full power and an overview of your ride.

Facilities, quality routes and gentle elevation – that's why, according to Gasperotti, a complete beginner and a pro alike can enjoy riding here. He has a clear favorite route: “I have a route here to Stodola and back, because that's where we have the best bartender, who always takes care of us.”
