route description

Every true road cyclist should conquer this route! Experiencing roads almost without cars and cruising along the narrow lanes of the border zone is simply a dream. And when we show you the best spots to stop for a good coffee or a coke with ice and lemon, you’ll fall in love with cycling in the Lipno region.
Before you set off from Přední Výtoň, make sure to stop at the Bohouš stand for a proper Italian espresso – you’ll need the extra energy. From Frýdava, the real time-trial begins right away. The rolling road with perfect asphalt is so much fun that your average speed will shoot up in no time.
Just don’t forget to turn at the crossroads by the bridge, or you’ll miss the technical highlight of this route – the Schwarzenberg Canal. From there, a romantic road takes you along the Austrian border all the way to Pasečná. If you need to recharge, this is the perfect place, because the toughest climb of the route still lies ahead.
From Pasečná to Spáleniště it’s a festival of speed and beautiful corners – just be careful, every now and then a car may appear, even though traffic here is minimal. From Spáleniště up to the vanished village of Kapličky you’ll break a sweat, but then it’s just a downhill ride to Vyšší Brod and onto the brand-new cycle path along the Vltava River back to the dam. From there you can either head straight back to Přední Výtoň, or make a detour to Lipno nad Vltavou for something sweet at Povidloň pastry shop or Bistro Molo.
Finally, ride the cycle path to Frymburk and take the ferry back to Frýdava. So, let’s go!
